Rome wasn't built in a day
'There is no good Irish running brands'
We had ran in every running brand, over every distance for many, many years. We knew what's good. We knew what mattered when it came to great running gear. We didn't think Ireland was represented well when it came to running brands. We wanted to change that. So we got to work.
Negative Split hadn't even had a name yet. But the vision was there.
Our very first product was a plain black singlet with a graffiti style 'Few Miles, Nothing Hectic' graphic.
August 2025
Over the next few months we worked on designs, logos, explored factories all over the world and started the sampling process. We knew creating a greatt singlet was our main goal.
This was our very first design that we got sampled, including our original logo which has developed a bit more as we prepared our first collection.
IT'S ALIVE!!!
By Winter time we had spent an absolute fortune testing fabrics, printing techniques, several shapes and fits of the singlet and we had a decent prototype in hand. Testing and real life wear of the gear was well underway, we took on every comment - good or bad and returned to the drawing board. We were still exploring new designs and products. We would soon launch our first product.
First Product Release
In January we released our first product - the Skull Cap - t'was the season for it and people loved it. We sold almost every one of them and got nothing but positive feedback.
Tried and Tested
By March 2026 we were on sample round 7 or 8 with the singlet, had perfected the essential longsleeve top and were ALMOST there with the final version of the men's singlet. The fabric was chosen, the shape had a slight bit of work to be done. Excitement was building. The people wanted the gear. It was not ready. We held our horses and kept working.
Collection Complete
By May we had finalised the singlet, training gear and some accessories. We had successfully - after a LOT of trial and error created some great tights and shorts, which we felt were an essential part of the collection. We finalised the small touches that we wanted. Packaging, stickers, thank you cards. All that good stuff. There was one thing left to do....
Our First Event
We got some runners together, introduced them to the gear and went for a run around the park. We documented the event and that's where all of our lovely images and videos came from. We can't wait to host more events like this in the future.
